What is HEMA and why is this substance dangerous? HEMA is an ester of methacrylic acid. Due to its ability to easily polymerize under the action of UV rays, it is used in gel polishes as a monomer.
The small size of the molecules of this ether allows it to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, as well as into the respiratory tract. Prolonged contact with HEMA may cause allergic reactions.
Of course, this air is more dangerous for nail technicians who deal with products containing HEMA every day. That is why we recommend using the NO HEMA base as the first (base) coat.
